Rat Model for Hydrocephalus (HC)
- Product No.DSI687Ra01
- Organism SpeciesRattus norvegicus (Rat) Same name, Different species.
- Prototype SpeciesHuman
- SourceHydrocephalus caused by ceramic cla(kaolin)
- Model Animal StrainsSD Rats(SPF), healthy, male, body weight 180g~200g.
- Modeling GroupingRandomly divided into six group: Control group, Model group, Positive drug group and Test drug group.
- Modeling Period4-6 weeks
- Modeling MethodAfter the rats were anesthetized by intracavity injection, the bilateral external auditory canal was fixed with animal stereoscopic ear studs, and the midpoint of the horizontal line of bilateral ear studs was defined as zero point. The lateral ventricle puncture was performed with a fine needle with a diameter of 27G (OD0.4mm). The puncture point was 0.38mm behind the zero point (equivalent to the position of the anterior fontanelle), with a side opening of 1.7mm and a vertical insertion of 3.5mm.
The hydrocephalus group was injected with kaolin suspension (100μ L of 2% kaolin saline sterile suspension, manually injected at the rate of about 6μ L/SEC).
Rats in control group were injected with normal saline in basal cistern.
Materials: three weeks after the operation, the brain was decapitated with chloral hydrate at 400mg/kg and bathed with normal saline and paraformaldehyde. - Applicationsn/a

Model Evaluation of the Rat Model for Hydrocephalus (HC)
1. Pathological evaluation: Continuous 4μm paraffin sections and Hoechest staining showed that the lateral ventricle width of 0.4mm in coronal plane behind the anterior skull of rats was more than 1.0mm, which was considered as hydrocephalus.
Pathological Results of the Rat Model for Hydrocephalus (HC)
Cytokines Level of the Rat Model for Hydrocephalus (HC)
Statistical Analysis of the Rat Model for Hydrocephalus (HC)
SPSS software is used for statistical analysis, measurement data to mean ± standard deviation (x ±s), using t test and single factor analysis of variance for group comparison, P<0.05 indicates there was a significant difference, P<0.01 indicates there are very significant differences.
