NETRIN-G2 associated with the development of nervous system is disclosed. Its whole cDNA length is 2428 bp and it is positioned at chromosome 9q34. The coded protein has 530 amino acids (about 60 KD). It may be used for the medicine to treat the diseases in nervous system.

Netrin-G1 and netrin-G2, belonging to a vertebrate-specific subfamily of the netrin family, distribute on axons of distinct neuronal pathways.Netrin G2 encodes a GPI-linked membrane protein which is a member of the netrin/UNC6 family. Netrin G2 promotes neurite outgrowth of both axons and dendrites. There are 2 isofroms produced by alternative splicing. The protein possesses a number of potential N-glycosylation sites.
